Café Granja La Esperanza CGLE17 from Colombia is our April Masterpiece.

Our Masterpiece Subscription is a promise to source the rarest, most refined coffees available today. Café Granja La Esperanza is the epitome of that promise: an innovative producer at the very forefront of the industry.

In April the coffee we have chosen is a unique hybrid varietal that has been developed and honed over the past 10 years: CGLE17. In a programme that crossed Geisha and Caturra, the producer was able to harness the stunning profiles of Geisha with some of the disease resistance and yield potential of Caturra. The result is a coffee that is richly flavoured, elegant, and amazingly complex.

Our CGLE17 lot was matched with natural processing: a combination that lets the character of Geisha develop and intensify for a deeply flavoured cup. The best natural processing relies on meticulous quality control. In this coffee it brings an experience that offers one of the most refined and fruity profiles we have tasted.

In 1945, producer Juan Antonio Herrera chose to diversify from the standard Typica varietal that was commonly farmed in Colombia: planting a crop of Yellow Bourbon, Red Bourbon, and Caturra. On that day Café Granja La Esperanza was born. After many years of innovation, the third generation of the family continue to focus on the production of award winning speciality varietals, with processing style chosen to best represent the profiles of each cultivar. CGLE17 is the latest step in their amazing journey and is a beautiful testament to all those years of work: a modern Masterpiece unlike any other.
